Weekends and Liebsters
Well, here we are. Sunday evening and the weekend is wrapping up, so I thought I’d do a weekend review to share some of the fun we had! Friday is kind of the start to our weekend, the husband has some Fridays off so we get a whole extra day! This week we ran some errands and went out to lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Our errands included me finally getting my car wash! See I eventually do finish off my to-do lists. Friday night we watched Concussion which is a great movie and you should watch it!
Saturday we had a weird morning. When we woke up we were unreasonably exhausted, like beyond parent tired. Once Lilly went down for her nap we ended up falling back asleep until the UPS guy came and rang the doorbell. Thank goodness he came because we wanted to get to a Bodypump class at 10:30 so we rushed ourselves out of the house and made it to class on time! Woohoo! After class we came home to get ready for a birthday party. Our friend’s baby boy turned one so of course we had to get together to celebrate! We all got dressed up! See, we can clean up nicely.
Sunday was mostly lazy. The husband was sweet and made me breakfast which was delicious. I started the laundry (a never ending cycle it seems). After Lilly took an unusually long afternoon nap (during which we lazed about and did a whole lot of nothing) we went out to The Bluff’s by our house and took a hike. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, 66 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We took the dogs too so it was a whole family event! We were lucky enough to see a herd of deer and the views were absolutely gorgeous.
Another awesome thing happened this weekend, I was nominated again for the Liebster award! Kristen from Balancing Pieces is a fellow new blogger who writes about motherhood and balancing the pieces of life. I met her on… wait for it, you’ll never guess… Instagram! You all should follow along with her blog and I promise you won’t be disappointed!
The Liebster Award is an honor given by fellow bloggers to new blogs that have been around for less than two years and have less than 1,000 followers. It helps bloggers connect with other bloggers. Growing connections and making new friends in the blog community not only helps grow your reach, it’s so much fun! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the blogging community I am a part of has overwhelmed me and inspired me and it drives me to keep going every day.
Rules for the Liebster Award:
Thank the blog that nominated you on a post in your blog.
Answer the questions asked by the blog that nominated you.
Nominate 5-11 other new bloggers.
Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer.
Notify all nominees via social media.
Here is what Kristen asked me:
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging after I had my girl and became a SAHM. I wanted to have something of my own. Somewhere that I could tell my story. I felt like there were so people writing about motherhood. Some saying it was terrible, some saying how they do it all and I just wanted to add my opinion to the mix.
What advice would you give another new blogger?
Keep going. It can be easy to tell yourself that someone else has already said or done what you want to do. But that’s the beauty of blogging. No one ever has because there are no two identical people, just like there are no two identical thoughts or experiences.
How would you describe your blog?
I would call it a lifestyle blog. But it is also a mom blog. I write about the big things in my life and my daughter is a huge part of it. So a lot of what I write about is her. I’m a new mom so this is a grand adventure for me and I have a lot to say about it. But I also write about yoga, my other passion as well as every other part of my life.
Is blogging your profession or hobby?
It’s my hobby. My job is first and foremost being a mom. But I pour my heart and soul into my blog and I think about it all the time. I’d maybe call it my second job.
What topic do you enjoy writing about most?
It really depends on the day. Every day is so different and so many different things pop into my head. But I really love writing about my daughter, and about the importance of taking care of yourself.
What do you envision for your blog one year from now?
In a lot of ways I hope it will be what is is now. Me telling my story and making relationships along the way. Would I love to be making money off of it? Yes, of course. But that is certainly not my main goal. I just want to be someone who others can relate to. I want to be the internet BFF pretty much.
What is one fact your bloggers don’t know about you?
Hmmm… probably that I’m double jointed!
Are there any topics you refuse to write about?
No, at least not yet.
What do you believe is the most important part of a successful blog?
You being you. Hands down. If you aren’t going to be yourself on the blog people will instantly see that.
How do you balance your family,work/blogging and social life?
I blog during naptime. Evenings I spend with my husband after Lilly goes to bed. Weekends are for my friends and family. My husband is very supportive and encourages me to write whenever I need to but I really like to make an effort to not always be on my computer around him and my daughter.
How often do you write and post new content?
I try and stick to a schedule. Monday, Wednesday and Friday posts. But if there is something I want to say I’ll post it whenever I need/want to. This for instance will be posted on a Sunday night and this week I plan to post every day. So it changes a bit, but for the most part 3 days a week.
